Electrical Engineering
An electrical engineer is concerned with the generation,
distribution and use of electrical power systems.
They also design, develop, test and supervise the
manufacture of electrical equipment.
Employment: An electrical
engineer can explore the possibility of getting a
job in public and private enterprises dealing with
the generation, transmission, distribution and utilization
of electrical energy.
Electronics & Communication
Engineering
An electronics engineer is concerned with the application
of electronics in the processing of information in
communication and control system, computers, industrial
electronics and instrumentation.
Employment: Jobs abound
in design, manufacture and application of electronic
devices, radio & television, communication systems,
navigational equipment, computer hardware and software
process control fields.
Industrial Engineering
Engineers with this specialization deal with maximizing
an organisation's resources in terms of manpower,
materials, information and machines. They usually
link management and operation divisions of an organization.
Their mission is to increase productivity through
efficient management of resources.
Instrumentation & Production
Engineering
The discipline stems from the need for designing and
maintaining instruments especially special instrumentation
systems for research.
Marine Engineering: These
are essentially 'sea birds'. Besides working as shore
engineers, marine engineers are also involved in design,
research consultancy, survey, installation and maintenance
of all vessels.
Employment: Prospective
employers are merchant navy, Indian navy, ship-building
firms and the government agencies. Ship breaking is
also a big job and highly skilled too.
